A 40 year old woman is in custody as Mackay police continue their investigations into a suspicious death. Police say they discovered the body of 39 year old man yesterday morning. The got the call out to a Bedford Road address at Andergrove at around 4:30. Police say a huge amount of evidence and information needs to be gathered before charges are laid.

Three people have ended up in the Mackay Base hospital following incidents involving alleged assaults. Ambo's say four incidents happened between Saturday afternoon and yesterday morning.

Speeding is costing Mackay motorists a lot of money. Stats released through Right to Information laws show in 2015 and 16 financial year over 18,300 speed offences were recorded on our local roads. It cost Mackay motorists more than $3.4M in fines.

Mackay North State High school is warning parents about a Netflix TV Series, 13 Reasons Why. It's a fictional show where the narrator explains why she took her life via cassette tapes. The schools sent out an email urging parents to be away of the risks associated with children and young people watching the series. They say they're worried the show may trigger high levels of distress amongst its viewers and have provided links to services, such as headspace and Kids Helpline.

Some singing Superstars are coming to Mackay. Australia's Elphaba, Jemma Rix is one of a few who are performing in the region for as part of the Australian Musical Theatre Workshop on the in June. Artistic Director, Tim O'Connor says we can register through their website.

 LOCAL SPORT

Mackay products Renae Kunst and Brittany Breayley are celebrating a Jillaroos Test Match win against the Kiwi Ferns. Kunst tells the Mercury she was lucky to get a try there on the back of some defence by the girls.

The Young Cutters are home from a hard fought game against the Redcliff Dolphins. While they didn’t claim the FOGS grand final win Coach Grant Rovelli says they should be really proud of what they've done. The final score reading 34 points to 12.
