Some Eungella parents are considering taking their kids out of school with two bat colonies causing havoc. One's very close to Eungella State Primary school with some locals saying the numbers are the worst they've seen in years. While a Department of Education and Training spokesperson says steps have been taken to protect students and the bats.

A man has been rushed to the Mackay Base Hospital after being bitten by a snake. The man in his 30's was bitten on the Bruce Highway at Ilbilbie yesterday morning but was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

We could soon see more doctors in Mackay It comes as there's going to be more medical students in the region. Dawson MP George Christensen says the LNP's providing $31M to James Cook University to support rural training to medical students.

Paediatric patients at the Mackay Base Hospital will be better monitored thanks to a new piece of equipment. A Rad-5 Pulse Oximeter has been donated to the hospital thanks to funding from Hitachi and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. Foundation founder Paul Francis says they're always looking for more companies to help out.

A new department store that’s set to open in Mackay in April is looking for workers. Harris Scarfe is recruiting on the hunt for casual and part-time workers.

Tickets to Elton John's Mackay show go on pre-sale this morning and promoters are warning against unauthorised websites. The only authorised ticket sales process is through Moshtix or the Chugg Entertainment website.

About 30 touch football coaches, players and referees from the Mackay region are contesting the National Touch League at Coffs Harbour It's the most we've ever had playing in a national tournament with Australian teams set to be selected from it.

The Brothers hockey clubs off to a flying start. Both the senior men’s and women's teams getting wins at the weekend taking out the Norths.
