There's nothing left of the Chris Engineering office on Harbour Road in Mackay after it was destroyed by fire overnight. Initial investigations revealing cylinders exploded and police say it doesn’t look not suspicious.

Police are investigating a theft in East Mackay after a crim walked in through an open front door. It's alleged they entered the unit on Bridge road and stole a handbag -- tablet -- bank cards and ID before fleeing yesterday morning. Police are reminding locals to always lock your doors.

The Whitsunday's is attracting more and more international visitors. A Tourism Research Australia survey revealing we've seen a 8.7 percent increase for the year ending June 2017. Tourism Whitsundays CEO Craig Turner says he's very pleased with the results especially with it being a challenging period through the cyclone

Community consultations are underway for the 150 million dollar Walkerston Bypass project. Once complete, the bypass would substantially reduce the number of vehicles using the existing route through the main street of Walkerston.

Opera Queensland is touring regional Queensland -- stopping into Proserpine on Saturday. It's featuring soprano Emily Burke, tenor Bradley Daley and baritone Shaun Brown. Artistic Director of Opera Queensland Lindy Hume says it takes the audience on a journey.

Former Mackay Cutters Coach Anthony Seibold is tipped to be the South Sydney Rabbitohs coach next season. Souths confirming current coach Michael Maguire left them by mutual consent on Tuesday night. The Rabbitohs set to make the official announcement this morning.

The Magpies Crusaders will be under the careful eye of Spanish pro Carlos Garcia Alejos in their inaugural National Premier League season. He's been named their head coach and is currently working at the Dubai Sports City Football Academy. While Alejos and his family will relocate to Mackay in November.
