A man’s facing charges after allegedly stealing a ute from Beaconsfield while it's owner took his dog for a toilet break. Police allege they caught up with the offender during a roadside breath test in East Mackay on Saturday. The 38 year old's being charged with unlawfully using a motor vehicle and more and is due in court on the 29th.

The search is continuing for a stolen Holden Commodore sedan. Police say it was taken from a centre parking spot on Carlyle Street in the Mackay City on Saturday night or early Sunday morning. It's rego number is 385 TGF and anyone who may have seen it is urged to call crime stoppers.

Two men have to cough up over 370 dollars each after being issued on the spot fines for a public nuisance offence in Airlie Beach. Police allege while they were attending another incident the 41 year old and 51 year old jumped in the prisoner pod of their police car. It's then alleged they began shouting and screaming at people walking by on Shute Harbour Road on Saturday night.

The Mackay council’s preparing rates notices and plan on sending them out next week. They're half yearly notices and council’s June budget outlined a 2 and a half percent rates increase.

LOCAL SPORT

All eyes are on Mackay's bull rider Damian Herden. He finished with a second at the APRA Xtreme Bulls in Cloncurry last week. The 26 year old walking away with an almost 2 and half grand cash prize.

While 23 riders are making their way from Cannonvale to Cairns to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Queensland. The riders For Sick Kids kicked off their journey yesterday and hope to reach 150 thousand dollars.
