Calling all talent between 12-18 years old! Mackay's Got Talent has been revamped and rebranded! 'Platform' is the new program which seeks to identify and develop anyone with aspirations to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Auditions will be held this Sunday, February 25 at the Jubilee Community Centre in the Civic Precinct. They're on the lookout for a range of talents, such as: musicians, singers, aspiring actors, acrobats, comedians, DJ's, magicians and much more.

There are also development opportunities for those who prefer to be behind-the-scenes. So any budding photographers, set designers, artists, sound technicians, costume designers, directors, film makers, prop masters or anyone with a backstage interest is urged to apply!

Anyone interested in auditioning must register before 3pm on the day, as auditions will be held from 12pm-4pm.

Video auditions will also be accepted this year.

Community and Client Services director Bridget Mather said Platform was about giving young people a chance to showcase and develop their talents.

“This is one of the major initiatives supported by council’s youth development program and we want to get away from it just being a music competition,” Ms Mather said.

Prizes include $2000 in bursaries, as well as career development opportunities.

If you're interested, apply for a registration pack by emailing [email protected]

Video auditions must be submitted with an accompanying registration form by 4pm Friday, February 23. It is suggested entrants include more than one video to show their range of style and skill.

The Platform Showcase Finale will be held on Sunday, April 22, at the MECC.
