25 year old Christos Panagakos has landed himself another date with the Magistrates in Mackay after he allegedly smuggled drugs into the Mackay watch-house from court. Police allege they found the drugs concealed during a thorough body search after he was sentenced to three and a half years behind bars yesterday. He's due back in court next month, charged with two new counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Almost 20% of St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School students have had a day off this week. It comes as a virus is sweeping through the West Mackay School with up to 100 of their 480 students taking a sick day.

Mackay is one of the 18 to locations in Queensland to get a fast charging station for plug in electric cars. The Queensland government looking to spend $3M putting in stations from the Gold Coast to Cairns. They'll be rolled out over the next 6 months. Environment Minister Steven Miles says it will be the longest electric super highway in the country

Whitsunday Coast Airport’s runway will play host to all sorts of people this Saturday. It's the Fun Day on the Runway to celebrate the upgrade kicking off. Mayor Andrew Wilcox says there'll be something for everyone.

Mackay Gymnastics is continuing to dominate the 2017 season, crushing the competition at the recent Yeppoon invitational recently. The girls finished up with a swag of medals, Megan Born crowned the overall champion in level 10.

Mackay's touch sensation's Shameus Edwards and Brynn DuRand are competing at the Schoolboys State Carnival this week. It following them being selected in the Queensland under 15's team.
