A man has had to abandon his car after it became bogged in the Pioneer River. Police were called to the scene yesterday afternoon when a man allegedly got stuck on a sandbar in front of Caneland Central. He was walked to safety in knee deep rising water but his car was already inundated and couldn't be towed in the conditions of the day

An escaped prisoner faces Mackay Magistrates Court. Nelson Kepa was brought before the court in shackles Friday afternoon charged over his escape, and a string of offences from his dash to Mackay. He didn’t enter a plea and will reappear June 27th

Ahead of the State Budget the Whitsundays and Mackay are calling out for Government funding. Big ticket items on the wish list including infrastructure projects, road upgrades and job opportunities in the local community. Whitsunday MP Jason Costigan says last years' budget was a MASSIVE let down

The Watoto Children's Choir are making their way back to Mackay and The Whitsundays. Made up of 18 vulnerable kids from Uganda the group travels the world spreading a message of love and hope.
