A man had to be taken to the Mackay Base hospital yesterday after his truck rolled on the Peak Downs Highway at Victoria Plains.

LNP Deputy Leader Deb Frecklington has paid Mackay a visit announcing $9 million dollars towards an upgrade for the Northern approach into Mackay on the BRUCE HIGHWAY. Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says this will create plenty of jobs for the region. 

Mackay and the Whitsundays cyclone-prone homes could soon benefit from State Government money in Household Resilience Program. It's aiming to ease pressure on insurance premiums for low-income owners of older homes in notorious storm areas. The $20 million dollar initiative will go ahead if the ALP is re-elected. Treasurer Curtis Pitt says people that may not have been able to afford repairs can now do so.

Senator Pauline Hanson found the time to pose for some selfies with Mackay locals after her arrival in Mackay yesterday afternoon. Senator Hanson stayed the night in Bowen.

Mackay's Superintendent Bruce McNab has welcomed five new First Year Constables to the Mackay District- yesterday was their first day on the job.

Members of the region rugby league community are being invited to a Sportsmen’s Dinner with Men of League Foundation’s Mackay Committee tonight at Wests Leagues Club. Men of League Foundation’s Queensland Manager David Shillington says NRL 360 STARS will be the special guest speakers. 

Olympian Mack Horton is en route to Hamilton Island to compete in the Whitehaven Beach ocean swim on Sunday.
