A Multi-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway yesterday afternoon at Kuttabul left three people with injuries. A truck and car collided sending the smaller vehicle off down the embankment and into someone's front yard. The car narrowly missing a house.

There's calls to take the blue card approval decisions away from Brisbane and to Community Justice Groups in Mackay The K-A-P will put a bill before parliament that will see the C-J-G's be part of the decision making process for indigenous people being approved. Currently the system is seeing some of them not being able to access meaningful employment because of their past. State Leader Rob Katter says it's hurting a lot of Indigenous people across the region

 

Dawson MP George Christensen will today officially open the David and Irie Dalrymple House. The Mackay- Buscasia Road address will act as a respite service with five bedrooms available for those suffering from a disability.

It was seven years in the making  but finally the Fiji Greenhouse exhibition and artist in residence program has launched in Mackay. Its open to the public until the 27th featuring local artists' interpretations between the Australian and Fijian cultures. Curator Fiona Vuibeqa says the exhibition was fully embraced on the weekend.

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

Two Mackay District Rugby League referees have been recognised for their work at the state awards night. Matthew Muscat and Clinton Begg travelled to Townsville to receive the honours.

 

The Mackay Indoor sports area is today hosting its own junior soccer world cup. It's an 8 week program with the finals showcasing on November 29.
