Investigations are continuing into a serious crash in Walkerston last night. A 21 year old man has serious head injuries as a result. Police say a car travelling on Walkerston Homebush Road left it and collided with a power pole at around 7.
The Mackay Conservation Group is calling on Adani to start engineering works on its Abbot Point port facility. Group coordinator, Peter McCallum says they need to ensure there are no repeat incidents of pollution of the Great Barrier Reef coast, not fight a $12,000 fine for a breach the company itself reported to the Queensland Environment Department. He alleges they admitted to releasing more than eight times its licenced concentration of pollution in March and are now considering challenging the fine.
Less than 260 houses a year will be built across the Mackay/Whitsunday and Isaac region. That’s according to the company BIS Oxford Economics. Their report predicting there’ll be no increase in the rate of residential building over the next two years.
