A new, state-of-the-art cancer centre will soon be opening its doors for Mackay residents early next year. The centre is the first to offer radiation oncology services in the local area and features the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, the latest in radiation therapy technology. Icon Groups CEO Mark Middleton says the facility is revolutionary. Keziah Sullivan of 9 News Mackay took us behind the scenes. 

The RACQ has released their 2017 Red Spot Congestion Survey with roads named and shamed by Mackay locals as causing unnecessary delays to motorists. Among the worst, Glenella Connection Road and Sams Road intersection with Harbour Road.

LOCAL SPORT

In power lifting, A mammoth effort for Whitsunday teen Brodie Toms- who broke every world record for his age category at the Oceania Championships and Pacific International Power Lifting titles in Singapore. It's an impressive feat with the 16 year old only joining the sport 9 months ago.

 

The 2018 Intrust Super Cup draw has been announced with the Mackay Cutters to feature in a televised game in round eight. It's one of 7 games to be played at BB Print Stadium. The squad will have to put in the hard yards early...playing every week up until a bye in round 10- in May.

With cricketing greats watching on from the stands, junior players from across regional Queensland are putting their all into the Bulls Masters Youth Cup.
