A 22 year old tourist is recovery after being knocked unconscious on Airlie Esplanade. It happened between Main Street and Coconut Grove at around 11:30 on Tuesday night. Police allege there was a verbal altercation before the occupant of a hatchback stepped out the car, assaulted the victim and then drove away.

While a man in his 50's is recovering following a three-vehicle crash near the Gooseponds in Mackay. It happened on Malcomson Street just after 3pm yesterday afternoon. Ambo's taking the man to the Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition but feeling dizzy.

The Sarina State High School pool will be open to the community during the school holidays. Education Minister Kate Jones making the announcement yesterday following weeks of debate. She says the Department of Education would progress a new lease agreement with Mackay Regional Council that secures availability of the pool for community use.

Mackay's Housing market is on the increase with the median price for a home in the region jumping up 7.4 percent in the last quarter. It's now at 335 thousand dollars according to the Real Estate Institute of Queensland's June quarter report.

Whitsunday businesses  are urged to do a survey in an effort to convince governments and Policy makers to drop power prices. The Queensland Electricity Users Network has a target of 200 businesses in each of the four council areas. Queensland Electricity Users Network Coordinator Jennifer Brownie says they need as much help as they can get

Professional Bull Riders are making their wya back to Mackay. BB Print Stadium will play host to them on October the 21st. PBR General Manager Glen Young says everyone's invited.

 

Three wheelchair basketball players from Mackay are in the ' all stars five team' It's an honourary award for the top players in the Northern Challenge competition. Locals, Nathan Bowditch, Sherri Genninges and Brayden Foxley-Conolly claiming the title.
