One patient had to be transported to the Mackay Base hospital in a stable condition around 6pm last night after crashing on the Peak Downs Highway 20 kilometres North of Nebo. It was lucky paramedics found the driver- as no calls for help were made. Traffic and Main Roads confirmed the road re-opened just after 7pm.

Australian Statistician David Kalisch announced the results of the ABS postal survey on Marriage Equality yesterday - with 55.1 Per cent in the Dawson Electorate saying YES. The rest of the nation felt the same with 61.6 ticking the yes box on the survey, a resounding majority YES vote in every state and territory. Mr Kalisch says the response rate exceeded their expectations.

Fixing Goorganga Plains will be at the top of the LNP government's agenda- yesterday promising to invest $10 million dollars to fast-track planning to get the vital Bruce Highway Goorganga project shovel ready.

There's some great things to do in MACKAY over the next few months. Art Space will be hosting an array of local and international artists... with some exciting local subjects for residents to recognise. Director Jule Skate says there are some exciting things for people to come and see.

LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Central Highlands Karate team has chopped down all other competitors in the JKA-SKC National Karate Championships in Melbourne last weekend. The took home 50 medals- a proud moment for local sensei Lutie van den Berg.

The Mackay Cutters have unveiled two more players- front rowers and former Wests Tigers star Darcy Cox and Canberra Raiders junior Jack Hickson.
