A 20-year-old Homebush woman is being charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer. It’s following an alleged incident on Gregory Street in Mackay early Sunday woman when a woman intervened when officers were talking to another person. It's alleged when police tried moving her she pushed, punched and kicked officers in the head and shins. The accused is also being charged with obstructing police and is due to front the Mackay Magistrates Court on the 30th.

Police are on the lookout for two people after a Toyota Camry was stolen from a car sales yard on Milton Street. It happened on Monday and police found the car crashed into a tree in Glenella yesterday, now with extensive damage.

The LNP's making some early promises, looking to bring a State of Origin Game rugby league game to the North. They're promising to put in a bid to bring the game to the new Stadium in Townsville by 2020. Whitsunday's MP Jason Costigan our region will benefit as well.

The Marian and Farleigh and Racecourse Mackay Sugar mills have crushed over 1,800000 tonnes so far this year. The only significant stops last week were due to repairs to the primary juice tank at Farleigh and scheduled maintenance stops for Marian & Racecourse mills.

ONE Mile Creek Bridge at Mt Pelion is set for a facelift, Maintenance work will be carried out on it from next Monday to the 8th of September.

The Qantas Australian Men's Sevens team is continuing its intense pre-season training for the upcoming World Series and Commonwealth Games. They're here in Mackay this week with play matches against Japan and a regional Queensland side Aussie 7s Head Coach, Andy Friend says our heat will put the boys to the test

Some North Queensland Cowboys are dropping into Sarina today and tomorrow. It's all part of a new partnership with the North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation. The cowboys will first visit Alligator Creek State School at 1:30 today.
