An Ice epidemic is sweeping across the region, and as the use of drugs rises, so does the amount of patients Mackay Base Hospital is taking in under the influence. Keziah Sullivan from 9 News Mackay has this report! 

Residents from an apartment block were forced on to the street last night after a fire tore through one of the units.

WEATHER

MACKAY: Partly cloudy. Slight (30%) chance of a light shower. Light winds becoming east to southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning.

WHITSUNDAYS: Slight (20%) chance of a shower in the morning. Mostly sunny afternoon. Winds east to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light before dawn then becoming easterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning.

ON THE WATERS:  East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore south of Mackay in the morning. Winds tending northeasterly inshore south of Sarina in the afternoon. Seas Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore south of Mackay. Swell East to northeasterly below 1 metre.
