Mackay Police have taken a female teenager into custody and a male teen is still in hiding after they took a two hour long joy ride in a stolen car yesterday afternoon. The White Toyota Kluger was just one of two cars the teens allegedly stole from Norris Street in South Mackay and in Blacks Beach. The chase ended just after midday near Kenilworth Street.

Mackay Airport will today test the region's emergency response in a simulated aircraft incident. The workshop will play out a fictional scenario involving an A320 aircraft undergoing a water landing south of the airfield.

Motorists are being urged to drive to the conditions after a landslip on the Mackay- Eungella Road on the Range occurred yesterday.

Grass is Greener will be held at the Mackay Botanic gardens this Saturday.. organisers hoping it be jammed packed with locals and tourists alike. Grass is Greener Director Johnny Eddings says they're bringing in some GREAT acts..

Whitsundays volunteers are hope to clean up more than five tonnes of marine debris and protect more turtles-  thanks to funding from the state Government.

Environment Minister Steven Miles paid a visit to the Turtle Rescue Centre near Airlie Beach and says conservation group Eco Barge will receive almost $48 thousand dollars to ensure the mammoth clean-up can get underway.

Mackay has once again missed out on the chance to host a state sporting game- this time in AFL Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says that the snub is all about votes for the State government.

 

Mackay lawn bowlers will head to the Gold Coast this weekend to represent Group 7 in the State finals of the champion of champions event.
