Great news for the patrons of the Sarina Pool and for the public. From today, the public will again have access to the pool during the day. Council CEO Craig Doyle said he was "happy with the outcome that would divide the pool up into sections and allow two groups to use the pool at the same time". Originally the public only able to access it after 3.30pm weekdays and on weekends. A 53 year old Marian man has died yesterday following a Bruce Highway Crash. According to police, investigations indicate two vehicles collided head-on about 10 kilometres south of Mackay just before 6am. The other driver, a 17-year-old Mackay man, was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Up to 15 cars caught fire yesterday morning at the Bakers Creek Wreckers. Investigations into how it started are ongoing but there was a small grass fire outside the fence at the time.

It seems there's a battle in Mackay over what party will build the Resources Centre of Excellence. On Thursday LNP deputy Leader Deb Frecklington announced $3.6 million dollars would go towards the project- which would include an underground mining simulated training facility and will bring together training, research facilities and services. The following day a re-elected Palaszczuk Government made the same commitment.

More than 10 Slade Point motorists were left high and dry at the weekend after fuelling up with contaminated 91 petrol. There are reports 300 litres of water was accidentally put in the fuel truck. The employee has since quit and the tanks have been flushed.

Whitsunday Fishers poaching from no-take green zones at night can expect to have their cover blown by a new high-speed patrol vessel armed with night detection technology. Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority operations manager Chris Cochrane says it will be able to cover a great distance

The wakeboarding summer series kicked off yesterday in Mackay at the GoWake Cable Park Riders as young as 5 were competing with valuable points on offer going towards qualifying for 20 18 nationals.
