The Mackay Conservation Group says a new Queensland Government report confirms Adani’s coal terminal has polluted the Caley Valley wetlands during Cyclone Debbie. Samples taken four weeks after Debbie has found up to 10 per cent of sediment in the wetlands near the Abbot Point coal terminal was actually coal that the company allowed to leave its site.

Mackay Police are still investigating an assault that occurred at BB Print Stadium in Mackay. It was following a Rugby Union match that had been played close by on September 16. Police are asking any members of the public who were at the game and may have witnessed this incident to please contact Policelink 131 444

Authorities are warning that these schools holidays is not the time to partake in illegal fishing. They've ramped up both aerial and sea patrols in all green and yellow protected zones. Marine Park Authority field  director Chris Cochrane says things aren't looking good for our waterways and illegal fishing isn't helping.

 

 Timberfest is back on again this Saturday. The concert will be held at Rowallan Park from 11am to midnight. Singer Kim Churchhill says all the budding musicians are on their own "Right Track"

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

Kirstin Dwyer from Mackay will play Hockey for Australia next month. Ms Dwyer will make her great return after glandular fever saw her miss games. The Hockeyroos were last in action at the FIH World League Semi-Final in Belgium in June.

Six junior soccer players have made Queensland teams to play in the FFA National Youth Championships. The boys have made the under 13's Queensland Country side- travelling to Coffs Harbour for a week of training.
