A man has died on board a Jetstar flight on its way from Brisbane to the Whitsunday's. The plane having to divert to Mackay yesterday afternoon following the man in his 30's collapsing. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

The Adani Carmichael mine, south west of Mackay is one step closer with the another dismissal of an activist’s challenge in the Court of Appeal. The court upholding the State Government's approval of a Mining Lease. Adani claims an overwhelming majority of the Wangan and Jagalingou people also has a different view to the senior spokesperson for the traditional owners council, Adrian Burragubba. While Mr Burragubba says they're looking at appealing to the High Court.

Labor Leader Bill Shorten has stopped into Mackay company Hastings Deering, offering Post Cyclone Debbie support. He has supported his state Government's pledge of $110 million dollars to help progress the region. Mr Shorten says Mackay and the Whitsundays has great potential.

 

An outspoken local MP is up in arms over some Victorian council's ditching Australia Day. Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says Canberra should be punishing them.

 

There’ll be a Picnic in the Park tomorrow in the Civic Precinct. It kicks off from 10 and it part of Mackay council's Council Libraries’ Book Week celebrations.

People after tickets to see our Meteors take on Townsville Heat this weekend will miss out. They all sold out within 80 minutes. Our Mackay basketball guys will be clashing with the guys from Townsville in the best of a three-game series.

The Kuttabul Camelboks are full steam ahead, claiming a win over the Slade point union boys at the weekend. The Camelboks defeated them 48 points to 15.
