The tourism industry, which prides itself on safety, has been hit hard as the investigation of yesterday's fatal helicopter crash gets underway.

A Mackay thief is buying up the town on a stolen bank card. On February 19 a person lost their wallet at a licensed venue on Juliet Street. Extensive efforts to find the wallet produced nothing. Now the bank card from within the wallet is buying up the town. Used in several service stations, bottle-os, taxis, and convenience stores. Sarina range residents are angry as they remain stranded. Almost one year on from Cyclone Debbie and the Sarina Range Access Road remains unusable. Having only one road in and out of homes impacting socially and financially on residents. TMR saying works should be completed by December this year with ongoing efforts to arrange limited access sooner

An upgrade for Mackay Radiology is helping give residents the best care possible. It's as a new MRI machines replaces the older one with state of the art technology. Practice Manager Peter Sandy says they're looking forward to using the new machine.

With next week marking 12 months since Cyclone Debbie Mackay Council are urging locals to get to know their neighbours. It comes ahead of National Neighbour Day Sunday. One Mackay resident saying she would have been lost without her neighbours during the cyclone. Home with her six month old baby alone with no power it was her neighbours who supplied emergency wares to see her family through

 

Mackay Council is developing a Public Art Strategy. They want you to leave feedback about what you look for in public art. Submissions can be made on the connecting Mackay website

 

LOCAL SPORT 

 

The Cutters are keen to tear apart the C-Q Capras at home. This Saturday the B-B Print Stadium will host their second home game for 2018. Facing off at 6pm for the XXXX rivalry round

While the courts are ready for Mackay masses one thing is still lacking. Mackay's new netball courts getting the tick of approval at last weekend’s first major event. But lines at the Canteen proved lengthy and new windows are definitely needed to cope with demand.
