It's been up for just one weekend but Dawson MP George Christensen's website 'Power the North' has attracted a lot of attention. His campaign is a push a new coal-fired power station as part of the major north Queensland campaign to tackle power prices. The website went live just hours before Capricornia MP Michelle Landry and Senator Matt Canavan announced a NATIONAL ENERGY GUARANTEE

Police are calling for the public to remain vigilant with protecting their wallets after a Mackay man had $20,000 taken from his bank account falling victim to a new trend called "Porting". Police say Porting is when someone commandeers your mobile phone allowing access to all of its contents including your passwords.

An election date hasn't been set yet but LNP Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan launched his election campaign on Friday night. He invited longtime colleague Senator George Brandis to address the crowd in Airlie Beach. Mr Costigan says it was good to see strong support.

 

Today is the last day locals can RSVP to attend the Reef Catchments' Goanna Brewery bus tour. It will run on Thursday and gives residents interested in horticulture insight into what is possible in the region. Self-Sustainable Agriculture President Sophie Glasser says it's a great opportunity to think outside the box.

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

Dozens of Cowboys and Cowgirls took to the BB Print Stadium on Saturday night- only ten making it to the championship round. Two stayed on recording a score of eight seconds. Proserpine's Rohan Markham an overall score of 86.5

One of the largest club meets took place at Mackay's Memorial swim centre at the weekend, with 200 swimmers on the blocks.
