Two people have been hospitalised following two assaults in Mackay's CBD over the weekend. The first happened on Friday night on Shakespeare Street and ambo's say they suffering minor injuries as a result. While a man has minor head injuries following the second attack on Sydney street on Saturday morning. Its happened outside a bar - the victim receiving cuts to his head after being hit.

New data's out revealing in the last seven months almost 40 Mackay locals have contracted Ross River Virus. According to NewsRegional last year more than 120 people ion CQ got the disease..

Malcom Turnbull will receive a letter this week from Jason Costigan on behalf of the Whitsundays region. The LNP MP wants the Prime Minister to visit the region and provide more Category D funding in the wake of Cyclone Debbie. Mr Costigan says the projects submitted weren't rorting the system.

The Whitsunday's Council is asking locals to stop dumping green waste at the park following the closure of their temporary greenwaste sites. Council's collected over 150,000 cubic meters of green waste in the wake of Cyclone Debbie

The Mackay Meteors have a loss to add to their QBL tally - the third one this season. They went down by 8 points to the Brisbane Capitals on Friday night.

Mackay: Sunny. Light winds becoming E/SE 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the late afternoon. Overnight temperatures falling to between 8 and 13 with daytime temperatures reaching 23 to 28.

Whitsundays: Sunny. Light winds becoming east to southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening.
