A sneaky thief has broken in while a Mackay resident stood in her backyard. The resident not thinking much when they heard the front door open and close but after a quick call out, realising something was wrong. They went to investigate and saw a number of items missing including a tablet and two acoustic guitars. It happened on River Street in the city around ten p-m on Tuesday night. If you may have seen anything, please call crime stopper.

 

Our region's National Parks are the crowning jewel in the Queensland tourism industry, and the LNP wants to make the most of them, Insisting development won't hurt the environment. 

 

A cars been keyed at a shopping centre in Mackay. The unattended vehicle sitting at a shopping centre on Mangrove Road while the owner ducked in quickly. Police believe it happened around two pm on Tuesday. Anyone who sees suspicious activity in shopping centres are urged to call crime stoppers.

Repairs for the Port of Mackay’s Southern Breakwater. They’re due to begin on the 29th of January, with contracts finalized for all three. 80,000 to 90,000 tonnes of rock needed for the job. It’s expected to be finished by the end of the year.

Think you’re the fastest man on the beach? Then head down to Sarina and prove it. The Aussie Day carnival will be in full swing from noon, with the race taking place in the afternoon. If you’re not wanting to run, there’ll be market stalls, wheelbarrow races and even a pie eating contest.

There are big changes coming to the way Mackay council can approve and knock back development and other important decisions.
