A 72 year old woman is today still fighting for life after a verbal altercation with a 22 year old neighbour went wrong at her South Mackay home. Police were called to the public housing complex late Monday afternoon. Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow says they have no idea what they would walk in to. 

There was just one lane of traffic moving across the Edmund Casey Bridge yesterday afternoon after a single vehicle rollover on Glenella Connection road. Firefighters were called to help paramedics remove two passengers from the vehicle. Three passengers were taken to Mackay Base Hospital at around 4pm.

North Queensland man Bill Bates is calling for action on a past Bob Katter idea- to create our own state. He's started a petition and has until December 15 to reach 10 thousand signatures.

Our Annual Waterway Health Check results have been released. The 2016 report card developed by the Mackay-Whitsunday Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership draws members from 23 organisations across the community, industry, research and government sectors. Whitsunday Tourism chairman Al Grundy says that the report will be used to improve the region

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

Mackay AFL product David Armitage is back on the road to success after a hard year with the Saints- spending most of his time on the sidelines. It wasn't an easy but an abductor injury and then hernia surgery left him no choice. The former Mackay junior is now on holidays now that the season is over.

 

Mackay's Kirstin Dwyer will be back on the pitch playing for the Hockeyroos next month in the International festival of Hockey- held in Victoria. She'll face up against the Netherlands, the USA and Japan.
