The proposed aged care development in North Mackay is in doubt. It's following council not waiving its $1.2M infrastructure charges and instead offering a 50% reduction. Padman Group Director Viv Padman tells the Mercury he's disappointed and says it's now unlikely the $40M project planned for Malcomson Street will go ahead.

A 40-year-old man reported missing from Sarina is home safe and well. Neil Lewis went missing on Monday afternoon but police are now thanking the public for their help in finding him.

A man in his 40's has shoulder injuries following a two vehicle crash, involving a motorbike in Cannon Valley. It happened at the Shute Harbour and Gregory Cannon Valley Roads intersection yesterday morning.

While no one's seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash on Harbour road yesterday afternoon. Police receiving the call to attend the scene outside the Busy Bee Takeaway cafe in North Mackay just before 12:30.

Both our Mackay and Whitsunday Mayors as well as Dawson MP George Christensen have had a chat with Justice Minister Michael Keenan over the Category D funding for our region. Mr Christensen says the teleconference was a frank and fearless discussion. While he says Minister Keenan is going to write to the State Government with all questions that need answering and a copy of those questions will also be provided to him and intern local councils.

Golfers will be helping RACQ CQ Rescue lift off this Saturday. The Charity Golf Day at Sarina Golf Course will help raise vital funds for next month’s Kokoda Trek to Save Lives. Event organiser Jenny Townley gives us the details..

Former Eimeo Nipper -- Meg Harris is making a name for herself after taking out a gold at the recent Youth Commonwealth Games. The 15 year old took out the victory in the 50 meter freestyle in the Bahamas. Harris also came second overall in the Australian team across all sports.

 

The Mackay Meteors and Meteorettes will take on sides from down south on Saturday. They'll battle it out against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix at home..
