Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Vinord Anand has confirmed that the wet weather will stick around Mackay / Whitsundays until Friday. He says it will ease off after Friday and build up again next week. "There was a big cluster of thunderstorms that dumped about 50mm south of Mackay today already and the forecast is showing more showers still. While they have weakened slightly for the moment we do expect it will keep increasing into the evening and rain again. All along the coast can expect up to 60mm overnight and into tomorrow (Today).” Showers have been forecast for the weekend. Any warnings and updated information can be found here. 

He's been a jack of all trades and now Mirani's Jim Pearce can add former MP to his list- accepting defeat and clearing out his Sarina office. In a final word he told the Mercury he'd have rather been beaten by the LNP than One Nation. The change of hands means the seat of Mirani has been won by three different parties in the last three elections.

Mr Goodman has developed a housing one- stop-shop phone app called Brixn which is helping people find their new purchase. And there's never been a better time- with the state Government continuing the first home owners grant of $20 thousand dollars. 

The fight to stop the ADANI coal mine continues. Rallies will ramp up across the region with hope the election promises will hold with whoever gets into power. Mackay Conservation Group Activist Maggie McKeown says they'll continue their work to stop the ADANI mine from going ahead.

 A new 40 metre long inflatable racing track has been set out on our waterways just in time for summer. The Mackay Aqua Park re-opens at Andergrove this weekend in a new collaboration with GoWake Cable Park.

Four years after the RACQ Central Queensland Rescue chopper helped save his father's life, a Homebush student has rallied his school to raise money for the service. Nick Kelly from 9 News Mackay has more.
