Police are reminding locals to take some security measures following crims being stopped multiple times at Blacks Beach. They say the offender tried to break into a home on Narrabeen Street three times yesterday morning but couldn't due to locked doors and windows. While they did still take off with some clothing.

Airlie Beach locals will once again be able to cool off at the Lagoon. It's reopening at midday today, five months on from Cyclone Debbie.

We could see electric vehicle charging stations in Mackay, Carmila and Bowen by December. One is set to be installed in the Council carpark on the corner of Gregory and River Streets.

The cane harvest is nearing the 50 per cent mark in the Plane Creek Mill area. In the Mackay Sugar district, it’s at around 44%. Canegrowers Mackay Chairman Kevin Borg says sugar content is up.

Mackay residents are being asked to bring along their power bills to a free electricity forum held this afternoon. From 3pm until 7 the South's leagues club will have their doors open for drop-in consultations. Mackay MP Julieanne Gilbert encourages house, business or even club owners to come down 

 

The Mackay Council will begin work upgrading four bus stops and a carpark today. They're on Kinchant Dam Road, Sugar Shed Road, Victoria Street in Eton and Condor Parade in Midge Point. Construction on the bus stops and carpark at the boat ramp end of River Street should be complete by the end of October.

And calling all golfers of Mackay. The annual Golf Expo at Mackay Golf club kicks off at 9 this Saturday morning. While there'll be a VIP club fitting tomorrow but bookings are essential.
