"Mothers Pantry" in Paget has been robbed again.

Heartless thieves have stolen charity tins and thousands of dollars worth of goods from "Mothers Pantry" in Paget. Keziah Sullivan from 9 News Mackay spoke with Kiya Fay from the Mackay business. 

A large two masted yacht is this morning sitting on the ocean floor at Saint Bees Island after yesterday's low tide dragged the vessel into reef and rocks. Mackay's 448 VMR crew was tasked to save ‘Karoo’ but it was already submerged with extensive damage. The Ferro Cement boat was a sailor's home- he's now left with nothing but the clothes on his back.

A new round of the Mobile Black spot program has opened which is aiming to fix areas with little to no coverage in our region. Mount Ossa and Yalbaroo north of Mackay have been named. It's running off the back of success in the Dawson electorate with a new mobile tower built on the Bowen Developmental Road and another to be completed at Woodwark in the Whitsundays next year. 

You'll be seeing some new Tourism ads drawing visitors to our region soon. A new FIVE year plans been put in place to boost tourists to the area.. with some stunning footage. Mackay Tourism's GM Tas Webber says they'll continue building on the plans they've made.

Longer trading hours and parcel access hatches are hoping to make life easier for Mackay residents this Christmas Australia Post is hoping to help the community to get those pressies off early for the big day. The Mackay, West, Caneland and Cannonvale offices will be open Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5pm and  9am to 12.30 on Saturdays.

LOCAL SPORT 

In Hockey news....we may not see Mackay's Kirstin Dwyer on the field at the Commonwealth Games after she was  left off Hockey Australia's 25 member squad for 2018. Dwyer one of five long-term starts to miss the cut.
