A 23 year old man has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death after hitting a 46 year old pedestrian at Jubilee Pocket yesterday. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the 3am incident to come forward. The driver Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 6

72 year old South Mackay woman Shirley Page has died in Hospital from the injuries she sustained after being assaulted by her 22 year old neighbour on October 23. He will reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court on December 18

The Urannah Dam project is back on the cards for the region with the LNP making a $1.3 billion dollar water infrastructure package announcement. LNP leader Tim Nichols making the address from Proserpine on Friday afternoon.

 

 

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also touched down in the region committing to set up a $1B a year special taskforce to upgrade the Bruce Highway

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort in Airlie Beach has raised close to $8,000 in their annual fundraising weekend- donating the money to Eungella dairy farm to help keep its doors open. BIG4 owner Greg McKinnon says it was a cause he felt passionately about.

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

More than 40 Basketball players from as far as Bundaberg and Townsville descended on Mackay at the weekend for a shot at making it into the Queensland North under 16 team at nationals next year. Gladstone Port City Power men's team coach Brady Walmsley took them through their paces for 6 gruelling hours.

 

Young Rugby League Brahmans player Sean Okabe has helped Japan take a win over Hong Kong at the weekend- competing in his first international game. He wore a Whitsunday Brahmans’ jersey in his training sessions.
