Same Sex Marriage is now LEGAL in Australia. The positive result follows on from nationwide support of 60 plus percent in the recent postal survey. Despite it going ahead, Dawson MP George Christensen was only one of a handful that are believed to have voted no. Mr Christensen says he is "Disgusted" that there were cheers in the Gallery for the "erosion of religion". Same Sex Marriages can go ahead from January 9th 2018. Mr Christensen posted the video below on his Social Media account.

A 26 year old man has been charged and faced court following two armed robberies that occurred in the Mackay area last Thursday. It was alleged around 5.45pm on November 30 he entered a convenience store on Beaconsfield Road armed with a screwdriver- demanding money. Police put forward it was the same man that later at midnight entered a service station at Coningsby and approached the counter armed with a knife.

The brothers of missing school girl Marilyn Wallman have renewed calls for information and hope a $250 thousand dollar reward might prompt someone to come forward. Marilyn disappeared while riding her bike to school in Eimeo in 1972 

Whitsunday detectives have closed a major operation targeting drug networks in the region-resulting in the arrest of 37 people on more than 120 drug related charges. Cannabis, MDMA, LSD and cocaine have been seized.

LOCAL SPORT

Netball season is back. The Whitsunday Sharks held trials over the weekend, with over 32 girls vying for a spot on the team. Coach Margie Sugars says she was impressed with what she saw.

In football, North Queensland United could be faced to take a year off from competing. The call comes from Football Queensland- who believe the club needs to get its financial health in order.
