A B-Double breakdown closes down the Bruce Highway. The road was closed for about an hour when the truck broke down near Kuttabul around 3 yesterday afternoon. It was towed from the scene and traffic continued as normal
Insurance Council consultations will be held in the Whitsundays following Cyclone Debbie. The Insurance Council of Australia visiting Proserpine next Friday and Cannonvale the following day. They'll provide one on one consults with local policyholders seeking Cyclone Debbie related claim help. Registrations can be made on the disasters website
Magpies Sporting Club wins best club Central Queensland. Awarded Tuesday night at the Keno and Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence. The club recognised for its contribution to Mackay's sporting community. Over 1000 guests congratulated the club at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
Mackay SES are recruiting. With a new 1.5 million dollar headquarters in Ness Street they organisation wants to throw open its doors. Locals are welcome to attend the official opening and recruitment drive this Saturday from 11am
Proposed new vegetation laws could see agriculture falter in Mackay and The Whitsundays. The state government looking to make it harder for farmers to produce food and new agriculture development. Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says he's looking to see some visitors in the region in the next few weeks.

Mackay Gridiron want you to sign up for the next season. Kicking off in September registrations are open now to ensure teams can be fielded and supported. Training on Wednesdsays and Sundays the club caters to all ages
The Mackay Cyclones Swim Club carved it up at the Queensland Championships. The event held in Townsville last weekend saw the club walk away with the Jenny Logan Memorial Award. Four club members also being awarded age champion awards at the event
