A Kuttabul man left with nothing but his boat and the clothes on his back. His high set Queenslander was destroyed on Saturday morning when what’s thought to be an electrical fire, tore through the home. A neighbour called the fire in but by the time firies got there it was too late

A Rural View man to face Court for assault. The man will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court later today. He allegedly broke into the home in eye-me-oh on Saturday night assaulting the occupant and threatening him with a knife

A Mackay man corners councilors over the lack of a swimming enclosure at Bucasia Beach. The man questioning the merit of a recent survey which asked residents if a floating enclosure would bring more swimmers. He says the survey was contradicting a 2014 press release from the Council where they ruled out a floating enclosure Mackay Regional Council Development Services Director Gerard Clayton says despite it not being seen as a good investment they would look into it if the community voted for it and regional councilors supported it

 

The Whitsunday Coast Airports has been going gangbusters. December breaking a record with more than 45,000 checking in January coming up just shy of that. Brian Joiner from Whitsunday Coast Airports says the facility is gearing up for a big project with tenders closing soon.

Mackay Regional Council wants us to get sporty Mayor Greg Williamson says a recent survey from the Cancer Council showing 83% of us here overweight or obese. Council is taking action to improve the figure and local’s health. They're creating a 10-year-plan to improve our physical and mental health -- while also capitalising on potential sporting tourism opportunities. The plan was available to check out at the sports expo at the MECC on Sunday but will also be at sessions around the region early this week

Dingo Beach residents are angry the State Government may throw away millions for a project people don't want.

Another versatile player to join the Mackay Meteors. The team announcing on Wednesday the signing of Sydney Kings N-B-L star Todd Blanchfield Having first left Mackay to play with the Townsville Crocodiles development squad some eight years ago he went on to play in the NBL first with Melbourne United, and most recently the Sydney Kings

For one footy star mental health was battle that nearly tipped him over the edge, when others thought he was on top of the world. Now he's using his story to help other speak up.
