Local government minister Stirling Hinchliffe is wanting to suspend or dismiss mayors and councillors who face serious integrity charges. The proposal which will be put forward to parliament next week, includes an automatic suspension for any mayor or councillor charged with one of a series of serious integrity offences. In the past, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council, Fraser Coast Council, and Gold Coast City Council, have all been under investigation by the state's Crime and Corruption Commission. Mackay mayor Greg Williamson said delivering transparency was a "no brainer”
