Two men have been killed in a workplace accident at Sarina. They were found in a molasses tank on Saturday evening by Police. It's been suggested the tank was being cleaned and both men became affected by the fumes.

Sarina councillor Martin Bella has spoke out about the death of two men at a Sarina transport company on Sarina Beach Road, Saturday night. Mr Bella said "the deaths would knock the small community. He said "the family that owned the business was one of the old families in the community. Everyone knows them, I went to school with the family". Councillor Bella also said "it wasn't just a hit for the family but also for those that work for the company. They are local employers as well so this will affect the whole community" 

A Blacks Beach woman's been charged with a string of offences after finding and keeping a lost dog. Cassandra Mann allegedly took two dogs from the beach and only deciding to give one back to the pound. The 61 year old being caught out, when a vet she'd asked to put a microchip into the dog, found the old one. She's been charged with stealing and injuring an animal.

Crims are looking for keys not cash.... There's been a surge in car keys being stolen from homes.. and Police want everyone to start being smarter about home security. Senior Constable Steven Smith says thieves no longer break in to steal money or items of value.

A pool compliance crackdown has begun. The focus on real estate agents, landlords, pool safety inspectors and unfenced inflatable pools. Queensland Building and Construction Commissioner, Brett Bassett says it's about keeping all kids safe.

We're being reminded to keep our identity protected. Police urging everyone to be cautious about over sharing on social media and keep our smart phones anti-virus software up to date. They're reminding us not to give away any information through pop ups and emails, especially if being asked for our personal information.

Planned traffic light upgrades are set for two Mackay intersections. The Sydney and Victoria street and Sydney and Gordon streets being affected. But council want to hear from motorists and businesses about how disruptions can be kept to a minimum. You can have your say by heading to the get involved website by February 5th.

 

Pet owners in Mackay will be able to sit back and enjoy a coffee, while their pets get pampered.

The Clipper Round the world race is expected to land in the Whitsundays this week. The expected arrival time put back a few days, after challenging weather conditions. You can see the first few yachts from tomorrow.
