 The Queen's Baton Relay heads for Mackay, Reaching us tomorrow the baton will travel 230,000km over 388 days until it reaches the Games on April 4. It'll weave through North Mackay riding up the Pioneer River in an offshore super boat before taking in the city centre. Residents are encouraged to line the streets to cheer it on with the day wrapping up with a community celebration at Bluewater Quay at 5:30

Aurizon threatens 35 Mackay jobs if sales are blocked. The Australian competition watchdog raising concerns over the proposed takeover. They're concerned the planned sale of the Queensland intermodal business would  give Pacific National too much control of freight haulage in the region. Aurizon says intermodal terminals will close across the State if the sale is blocked

Pet owners are warned as wild dogs are spotted in the Mackay region. As mating season begins numbers are set to spike and threatening pets and livestock. Council advises owners to keep animals inside at night or secure them in a kennel. While landholders should vary grazing times

Residents in Mackay will soon see new infrastructure projects take shape. The Coalition Government last week announcing more successful applicants for the Regional Jobs and Investment Package. Four Mackay Projects will share in more than two point four million dollars to boost their concepts. Member for Dawson George Christensen says the projects will create ongoing jobs for the region

 Over 500 singers to perform at the MECC. The 26th Regional Choral Festival kicking off tonight from 7:30. The choirs aiming to highlight young Australian composers

Tradies are flat out with work, creating a boom within the construction industry, and local building business say there's no signs of it slowing down.

LOCAL SPORT

A day of highs and lows for Mackay in round two of the Intrust Super Cup, The Under 18s walking away from Easts Tigers with a 20-16 win While the Under 20s and Cutters defeated in close matches. The main event ending with a 26-24 score to Easts

Magpies United go down to SWQ Thunder in a nail biting round with the majority of possession and chances the boys looked to have it in the bag, But two last minute goals from the Thunder saw a final score of 3-4

 ROAD CLOSURES FOR BATON RELAY TOMORROW

1pm to 3pm on Tuesday there will be delays and diversions and closures around Norris Rd and Malcolmson St.

3pm to 6pm there will be disruptions in the city centre around River St, Victoria St, Brisbane St, Alfred St and Wellington St.
