A mans body’s been found at a unit in Blacks Beach. It's been revealed emergency services were called around ten a-m yesterday morning. Police say there's no suspicious circumstances surrounding the 50 year old’s death.

Over 1000 MDMA tablets are off Mackay streets. Police carrying out raids on twelve houses over three days and seizing drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia. It’s believed over thirteen people have been charged and will attend the magistrates court at a later date.

A small airplane crash for the MACKAY airport. Two people on board, but no one was injured according to their Facebook post. Staff worked quickly to clear the airways and get operations back to normal by about 8:30 on Friday night. A nose wheel collapse the cause of the trouble.

Mackay parents are being urged to speak to family doctors about vaccination for mumps. It comes after reported cases in the area since the start of January. AMA Queensland President Dr Bill Boyd says that children can have lasting effects thanks to the disease. 

Whitsundays tourism is booming thanks to the Clipper Race. Sales and Marketing Manager at Tourism and Whitsundays, Tash Wheeler says the town is buzzing.

LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Mavericks have beaten all expectations Winning against the Townsville cyclones, 17 to 14 in the first gridiron game of the season. Over 1000 people packed the stadium to see the boys in a nail-biting game.

The Mackay cyclones are gearing up for what’s set to be a huge year for the swimming team. They’re straight back into competitions in February and March with the State Sprints and Capricornia School Sports comp. Over the next few weeks the clubs 40 strong swimmers will compete in Dysart, Townsville, Airlie and Mirani.

The Mackay Fire are hoping to go one better this year. They’ve come close with one to two point losses in 20-16 and ‘17 in the Australia Day carnivals. Two of their special Olympics players, three point specialists and ready to take on their competition this Friday.
