The death of a loving, happy couple in Wednesday's Whitsundays' helicopter crash last week has left family and friends devastated.

Mackay residents are up in arms over a proposed wheelie bin law. The new law seeing residents slogged with a two and a half grand fine when failing to bring bins in within 24 hours of collection day. Local Law 9 is being forced by the expiration of State legislation with the Mercury reporting Council will be in no hurry to enforce fines. The new rules will be in place from July 1st. 

Childcare workers are walking off the job tomorrow in Mackay and The Whitsundays... it's part of a larger movement across the country. 25 people will be attending a rally in Mackay. United Voice Union Queensland Branch President Sharon Caddie says they're demanding MORE funding from the federal government to pay workers Better.

The 14th Queensland Miss Teen Australia State Finals light up Mackay. While it was two visiting competitors taking out the crowns Mackay's Chloe Davis was named the overall most photogenic.

The Blood Service is asking Mackay residents to give blood this Easter. With many regular donors taking breaks over the Easter long weekend it's important to keep the national supply pumping. Australian Red Cross Blood Service Community Relations Officer Ben Payne says the need for blood and plasma doesn't take a holiday

The Under 20s go down against the C-Q Capras. Facing off for round three of the Intrust Super Cup Saturday. Fighting strong until the finish our boys walking away with a final score of 24-20

Another loss in round eight for the Magpies Crusaders United. Going down 4-1 at Meakin Park Saturday night for round eight of the N-P-L
