An assault in the Proserpine area hasn't been solved and Police are asking for your help. A man was punched several times unexpectedly as he stood outside a licensed venue on the Main Street on March 31. The incident happened around eight at night. He walked to the hospital for treatment to his face... but Police still have no in custody over the assault.

Some Mackay and The Whitsundays island campgrounds, walking tracks and public moorings will remain closed while assessed for damage caused by Ex Tropical Cyclone Iris. It's as the Category 2 system battered the coast last week with heavy rain and gale force winds. You can keep up to date with all closures on the Queensland National Parks website.

Community forums will start later this month looking at some of the guidelines around the States Solar farm boom. They’re set to come through Mackay May 3rd with residents invited to have their say. Natural Resources, Mines and Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham says they'll do what's best for regional Queensland. 

LOCAL SPORT

We could see MACKAY become the home away from home for the Gold Coast Suns. It's part of a plan to host A-F-L games at HARRUP PARK. The Suns currently in talks with Mackay Regional Councial to have the region added to the list of towns they currently play at including Townsville and Cairns.

A new hearing support group has been established in Mackay. It's been established by local audiologist Jodie Miles and is a first for the region. "HEAR FOR YOU" allowing people who are suffering from hearing loss to ask for support. The group will start meeting on the third THURSDAY of every month, starting this week at the North Mackay Bowls Club.

 Hard work has paid off for Mackay paratriahlon competitor Nic Beveridge. He’s taken out second place in the commonwealth games race on Saturday. The 31 year old placed ninth in the Rio Olympics completely changed his training schedule and won back to back world championships in 20-14 and 15.

The Mackay Cutters have gone down to the Falcons. They lost by 28 points on Saturday afternoon at home.

Mackay sporting clubs are working overtime to ensure they are ready with the city to host the NQ games next month.
