A Glenella man is recovering in the Mackay Base Hospital after he had to be cut free from a wreckage yesterday morning. His ute rolling near Moranbah on his way to work. The 31 year old's been airlifted to hospital with fractures and minor cuts and abrasions.

Police are warning Andergrove locals to lock their vehicles. It's following a few people being impacted by thieves stealing from cars over the weekend. While they say they're keen to talk to a man in his mid 20's and Caucasian in appearance -- with long curly hair in relation to the offences.

Four and a half million dollars’ worth of works will kick off on Koumala-Bolingbroke road next month. The State Government says it's to improve safety after a detour was set up on the road with the Sarina Range closed due to two major slips. The works will include sealing about two kays of the range and other sections of the road, installing guardrails, widening culverts, and adding signs.

It's national stroke week and Mackay residents are being encouraged to wear stripes this Friday. Queensland Health reveals 253 locals have been admitted to hospital in the past year. Stroke Recovery Trial Fund Director Dr Coralie Graham says awareness and starting the conversation is vital

The Woolworths shop at Andergrove is off the Market. It's following it selling for 18.8 million dollars to a private investor in Melbourne.

LOCAL SPORT 

The Mackay City Hawks are into the Grand final. They'll be going head to head with the Whitsunday Sea Eagles AFL boys this weekend. It's following a stellar performance last weekend in the preliminary finals where they defeated the North Mackay Saints, 78 points to 67.

Sam Betten is a force to be reckoned with taking out the Airlie Beach Sprint Triathlon for an eighth year in a row. He finished in 59 minutes and 34 seconds at the weekend. While Emma Hogan's taken out the women’s' triathlon sprint in an hour and 12 minutes.
