It's been revealed the Mackay-Whitsunday region is home to three of Queensland's most dangerous intersections.

Mackay Christian College is hosting a Mangrove seminar. Renowned mangrove ecologist Dr Norman Duke presenting the worth of preserving the Pioneer River Mangrove ecosystem. Supported by the Advance Queensland Engaging Science Grant. Open to the community at the school's assembly hall tonight from 5:30

Graziers and mixed operators from Mackay and The Whitsundays are invited to an Innovative Grazing Network event. Held on Tuesday 8th May with registrations closing next Tuesday. The day providing opportunities for producers to come together to talk about opportunities and challenges in Central Queensland cattle production. Innovative technology the hot topic with a chance to see a drone in action.

Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard will be a keynote speaker at the myPHN Conference 2018. She's there as a chair of beyond blue, as well as a Chair for the Global Partnership for Education. Acting CEO Therese Cotter says the former prime minister will help the conference in its goal in improving community's capacity to deliver primary care.

Applications are open now for artists and performers for the 20-18 C-Q University Village Festival. Taking place in August festival organisers are looking for talent for the event. New and returning musicians, visual artists, and performing artists are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is Friday the 11th May via the Village Festival website

LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Memorial Swim Centre is in need of big upgrades. But Mackay Regional Council are ignoring concerned users when it comes to safety issues. Tens of thousands has already been spent on the aging facility but now a new manager will also need to be found.

Mackay's Southern Breakwater is gearing up to host the Tour De Cure. It’s on this tomorrow to help raise much needed funds for cancer research. 120 riders will begin their journey in the region, travelling just over 1100klms to Cairns.
