A Slade Point man has been accused of wasting Police time with a scam call. The 60 year old allegedly called Police around 11pm on Tuesday speaking provocatively As a result Mackay Police went to his home to speak with him giving him a notice to appear in court for using the emergency service line incorrectly. He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on March 26
Mackay locals are tired of overpriced airfares. The Whitsunday Regional Council saying they believe Mackay residents are driving to the Whitsunday airport to access cheaper flights. A recent survey conducted by the Council showing that up to 15 per cent of passengers flying from The Whitsunday airport are from the Mackay region They say this number spikes around school holidays with flights being anywhere over $50 cheaper than Mackay.
