Frustrated shoppers abandon groceries at Canelands Woolworths. A nationwide IT issue impacting registers in the supermarket for a short period yesterday afternoon. Shortly after 4pm the issue began to affect stores across the country with Woolworths closing some stores. The stores reportedly back to business as usual by 5pm

Residents in Gargett benefit from new and improved mobile coverage. With Telstra rolling out the Federal Government's Mobile Black Spot Program. A new mobile base station in the area delivering Telstra's 3G and 4GX data services to the region for the first time. It's part of thirteen million dollars in investments Telstra is putting into Central Queensland this year

 

North Queensland Bulk Ports open submissions for annual grants to local schools. Providing the opportunity for Mackay students to benefit from one of 10 one thousand dollar grants. The grants aimed at supporting projects that contribute to developing a sustainable environment. The Labor Government's waste levy has come under fire from the LNP, who claim it will increase costs for small businesses. Speaking in Mackay yesterday LNP Shadow Minister for Small business Fiona Simpson condemned the tax. Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says it's unfair for all of Queensland to be taxed for a localised issue.

 

 

Mackay’s sea food industry is under siege according to local commercial operators and industry experts.

Mackay Netballers are invited to register for the NQ Games. The games hosted on May 5th-7th at the Mackay Netball Courts in South Mackay. Registrations closing online Friday

Mackay Road Runners see 40 participants in their 10km hurt locker social run. Taking on challenging hills, sand and rainforests from the end of the beach to Wedge Island. Eager runners are invited to sign up to join the runners for the N-Q Games 5 and 10km runs

Light winds becoming E 20 to 30 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 16 and 21 with daytime temperatures reaching 27 to 32.
