Mackay residents could soon be slogged with a $2500 fine for leaving their bins out. Mackay Regional Council explains why this is happening and their position on it. 

A man is on the run following a stabbing in North Mackay. The incident occurring around midnight Saturday at Gooseponds Park between the man and a 38 year old woman. Mackay Centrelink customers are being encouraged to plan ahead for the Easter break. Phone lines will be down on Good Friday and Easter Monday and in some cases payments and reporting dates are being changed. Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen says that some people will receive their payments early.

Sunday saw the rain halting play with umpires regularly checking the pitch. A forced abandonment of the finals match saw the undefeated Norths take out the cup 

Teachers in the Mackay region are reminded to take advantage of Sporting Schools Funding. Touch Football Australia chosen as one of the sports involved in this year’s funding. Getting in now could secure funding ahead of the Mackay Junior Season which kicks off in July
