A 15 year old Mackay girl charged over a bottleshop robbery. Three females allegedly entered two bottle shops in Townsville  on Sunday. One of the girls allegedly threw a bottle at a staff member before they left with a bottle of booze. An off-duty detective saw the incident and followed them to  a home in Kirwan. An 18 year old girl from West Mackay will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday. While the 15 year old girl, also from West Mackay was charged yesterday

Torrential rain drenched Mackay over the weekend, with parts of the region recording more than 150mm of rain.

Police investigating a burglary in Mackay. It is believed a second story room was broken into early on Saturday morning. The burglar allegedly scaling the air conditioning units before entering the room from the balcony. Their noisy arrival alerted the room's occupant who had been sleeping. They watched what appeared to be a female leave the room with money that she had taken from the bedside table

Mackay's cane farmers to reap rewards in Pacific trade deal. The new deal means farmers can sell to more countries with reduced tarriffs once it comes into play. The Trans-Pacific Partnership will give farmers new and improved access to markets. Ten countries around the Pacific Rim will be included under the deal. The deal is set to be signed off early next month

The huge Mackay Ring Road project contract awarded to Dog Gone Fencing. The project will see the company install twelve kilometres of fencing and is worth almost $500 million. Federal Member for Dawson George Christensen says he's looking forward to securing more projecs for the region.

Millions have flocked there for thousands of events over its lifetime, and over the weekend the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre hosted its own 30th birthday gala.

LOCAL SPORT

Two junior girls out of Mackay are ready to represent Queensland in Hockey. Montanah Best from North Mackay and Glenella's Keely Walker are set to throw their maroon jersey's back on. The girls have been selected to represent their State at the Under 18 National Hockey Championships in Tasmania next month
