While Ex Tropical cyclone Linda, which is now a LOW, will miss us, it's still going to leave a mark. The LOW is expected to continue to move South West away from the coast. It is not expected to make landfall, however residents are asked to heed the strong wind warnings issued by the Bureau of Meteorology

Sugarloaf is set to benefit from a big boost in federal funding with a new project being announced. It's thanks to the regional jobs and investment program. Dawson M-P George Christensen says the resort will complement the region.

Our local Mackay emergency services are being slugged with a hefty bill. It's as changed funding laws come into place by the opposition leader that cause local brigades to use their own money during a disaster. Fire and Emergency Minister, Craig Crawford says hours of man power go into disaster efforts that need immediate funding.

Two Mackay superstars score themselves a backstage pass to Mackay's performing arts scene. Sheena Geiger and Kai Millen selected as winners of the MECC vlog competition. The pair will capture up to 20 events at the MECC with their brand new camera equipment.

Mackay Rockhampton and Townsville face off in the Basketball. Rockhampton hosting the Under 23 Youth Tropical League Games across the Weekend. Day two saw game play evened out across the field with Mackay losing two and wining two of their games

 Harrup Park gets set to host a NEAFL game. The game between Gold Coast Suns and Greater Western Sydney Giants due to hit the ground in April. The comp is run between NSW QLD and the NT and is the equivalent of the VFL in Victoria

WEATHER

MACKAY & WHITSUNDAYS:  Mostly sunny. Slight chance of a shower along the coastal fringe in the early morning. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. Winds S/SE 15 to 25 km/h tending E/SE 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 18 and 22 with daytime temperatures reaching the low 30s.

ON THE WATERS: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots offshore in the morning. Winds decreasing to 15 to 20 knots in the late afternoon and evening. Seas 2 to 3 metres. Swell East to southeasterly 1 to 1.5 metres offshore, decreasing to around 1 metre during the morning.

STRONG WIND WARNING: Tropical cyclone Linda, category 1, was located 1100 kilometres east of Mackay and moving to the southwest at 32 kilometres per hour. The system is forecast to weaken below cyclone strength, well off the Queensland coast, by Wednesday afternoon but to continue moving to the southwest. The system should remain well off the southeast coast of Queensland during Thursday and Friday. However, there remains some uncertainty associated with the intensity and movement of this system. A trough lies over Torres Strait and will remain slow moving during today
