The hunt is on for a wild dog responsible for a shocking mauling of a little boy in the Whitsundays. The four year old boy attacked on Sunday afternoon with residents revealing it’s not a secluded incident. A Bloomsbury woman claiming the same thing happened just weeks earlier while she visited the same beach. The Whitsunday Regional Council are continuing their search for the dog.

A brazen thief has climbed over a balcony and stolen household items while the resident was inside in East Mackay. The theft taking place in the early hours of Sunday morning while the person had a shower and watched TV. Items stolen including an Ipad, which was found a short time later thanks to GPS tracking. If you have any other information please call Police Link on 131 444.  

An Airlie business has ripped off over ONE hundred customers. The Universal Sport Tours operator pleading guilty to 104 counts of fraud. All up costing those who bought concert tickets, flights and accommodation a whopping $130,000. 

Relay for Life is back again this year and registrations are opening soon.. with Mackay residents urged to register and take part. Senior Coordinator for regional fundraising for 'Relay For Life' Angela Ryan says that all money helps the cause.

Great news for Mackay’s Claire Kelly.  The eighteen year old nominated for the Queensland Young Achievers Award. She won the Mackay young citizen of the year award and young women in public affairs award for her outstanding community service.

Police are fed up with drug drivers on Mackay roads putting innocent lives at risk, and are cracking down to take them off the roads. 34 Drug drivers have been nabbed. Nick Kelly from 9 News Mackay has more. 

 

The State and Federal Governments are teaming up, putting $2 million on the table for anyone who has revolutionary way to stop threats to the Great Barrier Reef.

 

LOCAL SPORT

A twenty four year old British sailor has taken out the Clipper World Race in the Whitsundays. Nikki Henderson captaining the Visit Seattle vessel. The teams will have a much needed rest and start two weeks of events on Friday.  

 

If you're looking for something fun and different to do, Outriggers Whitsundays want to hear from you. The local group, one of the fastest growing water sports in the region. You can join them this Saturday from 10am to 1pm when they host the 2018 sign on day at Shingley beach.
