Strathmore Road at Collinsville has been closed due to safety concerns. With an increase in traffic the Council deems the road unsafe in its current state. Due to extreme deterioration Council determined urgent repair work is required for public use. Road signs have been erected with works commencing tomorrow
Communities in Mackay are preparing for the annual ANZAC Day ceremonies. President of the Marian R-S-L Sub Branch John Edwards says they've got plenty on the cards. To see the full list of ceremonies, click here
As many sit down to their rummy ANZAC Day coffee it's time to look forward to the day ahead Mackay and the Whitsundays locals able to pay their respects at numerous services. In Mackay the main service is getting underway at Jubilee Park from 9:30 following the march from Sydney Street
The Royal Australian Air Force will conduct flyovers in support of ANZAC Day In Mackay and the Whitsundays residents will look up this morning to see C-17-A Globemasters. Airlie Beach Shute Harbour will be first at 9am moving over Proserpine at 10. Finishing overhead of Airlie Beach at 11:15
The Mobile Breast screening bus is coming to Mackay. Situated at Wests Leagues Club from next Tuesday until Thursday. Women aged 50-74 are encouraged to attend for a free breast screening. Phone 13-20-50 or book your soon online at the QLD government website
LOCAL SPORT
The Mackay Road Runners are at it again. This time competing in the Farmers Long Gallop 5km and 17km races. Held at the residence of life member Agnes Farmer in honor of her husband Fred.
Kids aged 6-16 are invited to a free Broncos Junior Coaching Clinic. The event to be hosted Saturday morning from 8am at the Mackay Junior Rugby League Grounds. Make sure to register your kids so they can be a part of all the fun
