Today marks one year on, since TC Debbie Crossed the coastline and left our region a mess. Some locals are still recovering 12 months on. 

 

Multiple cars targeted in a South Mackay theft. Thieves entering an open garage at a Scott Street home around 10:30 Monday night. Finding an open Lexus containing the keys to an orange Toyota Yaris. Entering another unlocked car the thieves steal a wallet containing four fuel cards. Before fleeing the scene in the stolen Yaris. If you have any information on the car or the cards call Policelink

Whitsundays M-P Jason Costigan is angry nothing has been done to improve the Bruce Highway since Cyclone Debbie. He's calling on better roads infrastructure before the region is hit by another life altering natural disaster. Mr Costigan says the area has been given no love by the Federal or State government

If you're headed away for Easter fuel up now. RACQ predicting Mackay fuel prices will jump ahead of the long weekend. The price of unleaded fuel in the region already jumping 1.5 cents per litre in the past week. While this jump is due to a recent change in the oil and wholesale price, the weekend will drive it further

Mackay locals are reminded not to go too overboard the chocolate eggs this Easter. With almost 5 per cent of the MACKAY region population having Diabetes Type 2. Preventative Health's Executive Director Kaye Pulsford is wanting us to still make good food choices during Easter

 

A spate of car thefts is driving police to the edge, as they plead with motorists to lock their rides after thieves found keys inside an open car in South Mackay overnight.

LOCAL SPORT

Damp and slippery conditions couldn't hold the Mackay Road Runners down. Approximately 60 runners heading out for the pub to pub Slade Point Club Championship Race. In the 5km first female Rachel Silvestri sprinting the course ahead of second runner Layla Sanders

Mackay Darts Association congratulate players competing in the Zone averages. The comp kicking off Saturday with players competing passionately. Sharon Goltz, Nancy Myers, Gaye Dejun, Juanita Barke and Leah Ashe making the Zone 7 womens team

Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms north of Mackay in the morning and afternoon. Winds SE 20 to 30 km/h tending NE/SE 15 to 20 km/h in the evening then becoming light in the late evening. Overnight temperatures falling to the low 20s with daytime temperatures reaching around 30.
