Police are asking for help to find an alleged thief at The Leap. The owner of a shipping container came to their yard Friday to find items stolen. They've reported medical mobility equipment, a fridge, industrial chemicals, duct lifter, a pallet jack, and the 20 foot shipping container to be stolen. A would be thief has given up mid act in Andergrove. Around 10:30 Friday night a resident on Bunya Way heard the neighbours dog barking. When they went to have a look in the morning they noticed someone had been using tools to pull apart their garage door. Similar incidents have recently been reported in Beaconsfield. Construction is about to get underway on the Bourke Street footpath at Blacks Beach. JMac Constructions will commence work next month on behalf of the Council. The project will give safe access along Bourke Street between Blacks Beach Road and the existing footpath

 

This weekend Mackay’s Kids can get involved in a free Fishing comp. The 9th Annual MRFA & Tackle World Mackay Kids Fishing Competition will get underway along the Pioneer River Sunday with prizes handed out just before 3. Competition organiser John Bennett says get in early and register.

 

LOCAL SPORT

 

A tight defence from both sides made for some low scoring Rugby over the weekend. The A-Grade Union grand final was played at BB Print Stadium Saturday. Mackay City faced Proserpine Whitsundays in the battle for the title. Penalties in City's favour pushed the half time score to three nil but no balls touched ground until the second half. In the end it was an 11-7 victory for Mackay

 

Whitsunday Sea Eagles and Bakers Creek Tigers have taken out the local AFL Premiership. Sea Eagles took down Eastern Swans at Rodgers Oval over the weekend with a final score of 106-23. While the ladies saw Tigers take down Mackay Magpies 35-20
