This isn't good

Cyclones in Australia are reducing in speed. Unfortunately for those in prime cyclone territory, this means they are becoming more destructive than ever.

Weather experts have found new research, showing slower cyclone travel speeds causing extreme rainfall, flooding and storm damage, wreaking more devastation.

Worldwide cyclones have slowed down 10 per cent, however, Australia's have slowed down to a whopping 19 per cent.

This means rainfall during cyclones can more than double, and last for drastically longer periods of time.

James Kossin from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said human-induced global warming is to blame.

“Global warming causes changes in the global wind patterns

“Since tropical cyclones are mostly just carried along in these winds, those changes should show up in their translation speed,” says Kossin.
